About Us
Raman elasto-thermobarometry is a growing field in petrology that offers an independent method to determine inclusion entrapment and recrystallization conditions without relying on thermodynamic geothermobarometers. However, inclusion pressures can be altered by deformation mechanisms like viscous creep or surface energy reduction. At high temperatures, these processes reset inclusion-host systems, making residual pressures reflect mechanical closure during retrograde cooling, complicating elastic interpretations. Since rock viscosity depends on temperature, both peak-temperature conditions and thermal overprint duration influence closure. The project aims to develop a viscoelastic model to account for non-linear viscous processes, improving thermobarometric interpretation and pressure-temperature reconstructions in metamorphic systems.
